Environmental Responsibility Statement

As an arts organisation we carry a responsibility in our approach to the environmental crisis. Arts organisations have a disproportionately large impact on the environment, mainly due to a great deal of international travel, shipping and high use of energy and materials. We need to act urgently to reduce these impacts in line with what the science is telling us. As an arts organisation, we also have an opportunity to use our public platform and cultural influence to set a positive example, encouraging and supporting others to take action and helping shift the public debate.

At The Residence Gallery we are actively developing new skills and knowledge to reduce our carbon footprint. We are committed to a sustainable future. We have initiatives in place to select the greenest options when it comes to shipping, travel, and energy use. We pledge to keep environmental impact to a minimum and inspire this ethic within the community we do business. We are a proud member of the Gallery Climate Coalition and as such we regularly calculate the carbon footprint of our operations to track our progress to at least halve our carbon emissions by 2030, from a 2019 baseline.
